Band Camp Policies
All Northgate School District Rules, Regulations and Policies will be in effect throughout Band Camp and during all band activities.
Medical
- A Medical Form must be completed and include current medications.
- THIS FORM MUST BE NOTARIZED.
- Please be sure to update this information if necessary (in written form) before we board the buses for band camp.
- Please make sure students have all medications and essential medical supplies (bee sting, asthma kits, etc.).
- Students are responsible for the administration of their medications.
- Please provide them with the necessary instructions.
General Conduct
- Students are not permitted to leave the immediate camp area used by the band.
- Males may not enter the female cabin/areas and females may not enter the male cabin/areas.
- Serious fraternizing with local residents and others not associated with the Northgate Band is not permitted.
- Do not travel alone at any time.
- Foul, obscene or offensive language is not appropriate for anyone associated with the Northgate Band.
- Please be courteous when addressing all persons, including fellow band members.
- We are the guests of Camp Kon-o-Kwee and therefore must treat their staff and facilities with respect.
- Instructors and chaperones are here for your safety and shall be treated with the respect their age and wisdom dictates.
- The schedule requires mandatory attendance at all times.
- All students will participate in all rehearsals, activities, and most importantly, meals.
Dress
- No bare feet outside the cabins at any time.
- Socks and shoes are to be worn by ALL members at all times. This is to protect your feet from blisters and injury.
- To protect you from the sun, all students during practice must wear shirts. Bare shoulders are not recommended.
Indoor Rules
- The following activities are prohibited in the dormitory and all other indoor facilities:
- Playing with or tampering with fire safety equipment
- Water bottles, shaving cream fights, liquid string, etc.
- Throwing objects from windows
- Horseplay and running in the halls
- Cooking, open flames and incense burning
- Moving furniture in rooms, halls, and lounges
- Ball playing or the use of other outdoor equipment
- No two-way radios (walkie-talkies) are permitted
- NO AIR CONDITIONERS OR REFRIGERATORS
- Camp Kon-o-Kwee prohibits unsafe extension cord hook-ups
Initiations
- "Initiating", "rookie-ing" is strictly prohibited.
- This is a School District policy as well as State Law.
- Any person involved in such activities will be turned over to the proper authorities and will be immediately dismissed from the band.
Drugs and/or Alcohol
- The use of ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS BY ANY person who is associated with the band will not be tolerated.
- Usage of said substances will result in immediate dismissal from band camp and the notification of the proper school authorities
- The use of all tobacco products is strictly prohibited.
Vandalism
- Willful damage to Camp Kon-o-Kwee property will not be tolerated.
- Any willful destruction or vandalism will be the financial responsibility of the band member and his/her parents/guardians.
- This is also the case for the property of Northgate School District and your fellow band members.
Visitors
- Visitors will not be permitted at the camp at any time except for Friday when your parents will arrive to view the show.
- Please call in advance in case of an emergency, parents included.
Please Note
- The Band Director reserves the right to search and seize—if necessary, with due cause—all band member items in violation of band camp rules and regulations.
- All general rules of the Code of Conduct" apply during pre-band camp, band camp and all band activities throughout the season.
Rule Violations
- FREE TIME DETENTION will be assigned:
- after two warnings for minor offenses
- immediately for serious offenses
- The length (hours/days) will depend on the offense
- It is further understood that the parents/guardians of band members will be notified by a collect call of any disciplinary problem that may be posed by their child.
- Should any band member violate the intent of the above stated rules, or prove to be a disciplinary problem, he/she will be dismissed from band camp and transportation will be the full responsibility of the parent/guardians.
- No portion of the band camp fee will be refunded.
