Be Prepared
Spending money
- Optional for uses such as snacks, pop, and phone calls
- The store might be open in the dining hall
Eat
- You should eat a well-balanced meal each time we eat
- Students must attend all meals (roll will be taken)
- This is not the week to go on a diet
- Our schedule requires us to be well-nourished
- The dining hall offers a wide variety of menu items that will appeal to everyone
- If you have special dietary needs, please advise the Band Director by pre-band camp
Fluids
- Drink plenty of fluids during meals and breaks
- Water and fruit juices are best to help prevent dehydration
- AVOID excessive amounts of carbonated soda
- Water is provided during all breaks
Comfort
- Brass players with braces should pack plenty of wax (consult your orthodontist)
- Sax and percussion players should bring towels to place under straps and carriers
- Everyone should wear cool, loose fitting clothing—HOWEVER, no spaghetti straps, strap tops, halters, tube or crop tops
- During breaks, a cool towel around your neck is helpful
Weather
- Bring jackets or sweats for the mornings and evenings
- Hats, sunglasses and visors are helpful in the sun
- Pack your SUNSCREEN
- Apply sunscreen before all outdoor practices
- Don't forget your nose and ears.
Footwear
- Quality FOOTWEAR is essential
- No sandals during practices
- Avoid cheap generic shoes as they provide very little support
- All students must wear socks during practices and activities along with good, quality athletic type shoes
- You should pack at least two pairs of quality, broken in shoes and at least two pair of socks per day
- Changing socks and shoes mid-day helps relieve the feet
Controlled Substances
- The use of diet pills, caffeine pills, or other stimulants to diet, avoid sleep, or compensate for lost sleep is strictly prohibited—violators will be subject to School District Substance Abuse Policies
Luggage
- Put your name on everything
- One suitcase, one carry-on, fan, and a boom-box size radio is all we have room for—component stereo systems are not permitted
- All instruments must be in hard cases—no gig bags
